On the occasion of 400th anniversary of the Bard’s death, a visit to the facilities of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, Stratford-upon-Avon, will include a ‘Hidden History’ talk followed by a visit to Shakespeare’s birthplace.
Schedule: Departure will be at 1.30 and a packed lunch will be available to eat on the way. Transport to Stratford and back to Wolverhampton will be provided. For those of you who have to consider departure times of trains or flights or have other plans and arrangements to bear in mind, the whole tour takes about 2 hours. Travel there and back is approximately 2.5 hours (i.e. 1.25 hours each way). This means that the likely arrival time back in Wolverhampton, if all goes to plan, will be around 6.30-7.00pm.
Cost: The cost of the visit is £19.50.
Lichfield City Excursion (Saturday, 16 July):
This visit to the nearby City of Lichfield will include a tour of the Samuel Johnson birthplace-museum, the Erasmus Darwin house-museum (in the anniversary year of the Enlightenment’s Lunar Society), and Lichfield Cathedral (including its display of the ‘Staffordshire hoard’ Saxon treasure-trove).
